Carriage House Tearoom & Cafe

Come and see what’s new at your favorite Tearoom in Cape May… undefined

Located on the grounds of the 1879 Emlen Physick Estate, the Carriage House is an historic building in its own right. Built in 1876, the dining tables in the Carriage House are intimately arranged in the original stalls that were home to the Estate’s carriage horses. The tack cases now display delightful gifts offered in our adjacent Carriage House Gallery Shop. The Gallery itself, home to changing exhibits, once housed the Estate’s carriages. You can also dine outside on the brick patio beneath the gaily-striped tent overlooking the Estate’s remembrance and herb gardens. Here you’ll enjoy a wonderful view of the main house and its grounds with traditional Victorian plantings and landscape design.

While you can still enjoy your traditional English Tea Luncheon or Elegant Afternoon Tea with Harney's Teas, tea breads and scones freshly baked in our own kitchen, the menu also includes more casual fare… healthy, wholesome salads, wraps, and grills made by Chef Bill Walters and Rob Guldin.

At the Carriage House Tearoom & Cafe, you will enjoy traditional service in an elegant manner. For a touch of whimsy, the ladies may get into the character of their dining experience by choosing from our collection of vintage hats to wear.

While you are here, make sure to visit the Physick Estate house museum and the Carriage House Gallery to see a variety of changing exhibits.

The adjoining Carriage House Gallery Shop features a treasure trove of tea and tea-related accessories, including Harney's teas, unusual teapots, china and silver plate serving pieces, cookbooks and much more.

All are wheelchair accessible.
